Palolem Beach

Palolem is white sandy beach with azure waters located in southern Goa.It is one of the most idyllic beach with palm trees presenting post card picture. The beach is hemmed in at either end by rocky crags and there is a small green island off the northern tip that you can walk across to at low tide. Many tourists especially backpackers find Palolem's mix of lazy beachside life very relaxing. There are many activities which you can do while you are at the beach.

Hire boats to spot dolphins with local fishermen. You can visit tiny Butterfly beach or Colomb Bay which is a small rocky cove located around southern headland. It has basic places to stay and beyond that there is another fine stretch of sand, Patnem Beach with beach huts and surfing facilities.

Palolem beach have small shops selling knick-knacks and handicrafts. It has some pretty good restaurants and hotels serving local delicacies like fried prawns.

There are many places that it is just a matter of choice until you find something that suits your budget and taste. There are resorts and several guesthouses spread all over the beach area. Along the edge of the beach are around 30 groups of palm-thatch or bamboo huts grouped together in little villages with a beach shack restaurant at the front. Staying in one of these huts will be a magical experience.

Palolem is located just 3 km from Canacona Railway junction on Konkan railway line. Hire taxis and cabs from Margoa which is 40km to reach Palolem beach .There is regular bus service from Margoa to Canacona village.
